My number one vacation destination I need to visit before I kick the bucket is England. I have been dreaming and planning of the day that I will get to fulfill this dream of mine, but until then I get to experience what life has to offer me that is within driving distance.
Not only is England a must-do travel destination, but Canada is high on my list and it just so happens that Canada is a very close drive for me now. Canada has many things to offer tourists, such as unique museums, amusement parks, and stunning architecture.
Located in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada’s Wonderland is a 330-acre theme park that opened as the first theme park in Canada in 1981. Owned by Cedar Fair parks, Canada’s Wonderland still remains the country’s largest Theme Park. Being from a family that enjoys Theme Parks, Canada’s Wonderland is a must-do!
Moving further north you will find Canada’s capital, Ottawa. How would you like to stay the night in a castle? You can do just that at Fairmont Chateau Laurier “minutes away from its biggest attractions including The Parliament Buildings, Rideau Canal, Byward Market, National Gallery of Canada, Shaw Center, and the National Arts Centre.” If feeling like royalty is not the adventure for you then how about a ghostly experience in an old jail cell? For a very decent price, you can stay at the Ottawa Jail Hostel.
“Ottawa, Canada’s Capital, is one of the country’s most popular destinations for group, student and FIT travellers, offering a unique blend of sightseeing, culture, outdoor beauty and a relaxed urban atmosphere.”
Canada and England have many things in common, such as forms of government and the tradition of changing of the guards. This year the changing of the guards will happen from June 25th– August 23rd. Something else that you don’t want to miss is the Northern Lights: Sound and Light show on Parliament Hill, this show will run from July 9th-September 3rd. I’ve been told that if you are in Ottawa you need to stop by Byward Market and try a Beavertail. There are many more things to experience in Ottawa and all its beauty, but my research took me further north.
Québec City is as close to Europe as I can get. According to Travel & Leisure Québec City is the most romantic city in North America and it’s not hard to see why. The breathtaking architecture is enough for this small-town girl to know that I am somewhere special. While taking in the sights stop by The Château Frontenac which is said to be the world’s most photographed hotel. This city offers many museums, outdoor activities and of course shopping!
Whether you are going to a specific part of Canada or taking a week to enjoy the many amazing places Canada has to offer I suggest taking a look at the dates of the experiences you want to enjoy so you’re sure not to miss anything.
